Festive Forest
Susan Geddes used a single blue print for the background of her modern throw quilt, with lots of different prints, plaids and solids from her stash for the remaining patches and binding. If you look at this quilt one way, it looks like rows of happy trees, but turn it upside down and it becomes rows of pretty bunting flags! Which way will you choose to make it? Either way, it’s tons of fun.
All the patches in this quilt are cut from templates. We’ve included cutting diagrams that help eliminate fabric waste, applicable even if you’re using scrap fabrics. Because of it’s scrappy, freeform color placement, this is a great pattern for using up favorite prints from your stash! They’ll mix together beautifully no matter what. Susan even made her binding scrappy for a whimsical finishing touch.
Our pattern includes a color option idea for making a super fun, super fast crib quilt in which a row of triangles is bordered by two fabric panels to make a clever, even more modern take on this versatile pattern. It could be finished in a single day if you need a quick gift for an expectant friend or relative. Whether you make a single row or many, this pattern is fast, fun, and easy to customize for a special someone.
