Addicted to Scraps - Betty’s ChoiceBlock

Betty’s Choice

This design is from the Addicted to Scraps series by Bonnie Hunter.

Instructions to make the Betty’s Choice block can be found in Bonnie Hunter’s Addicted to Scraps column in the March/April ’13 issue of Quiltmaker.

For a 57″ x 57″ quilt (as shown), you will need 25 Betty’s Choice blocks and an additional 72 units for border #2.
You will also need to cut 20 1-1/2” x 9-1/2” rectangles for vertical sashes and 4 1-1/2” x 49-1/2” strips for horizontal sashes.
For border #1 cut 2 1-1/2” x 49-1/2” for the side strips and 2 1-1/2” x 51-1/2” strips for the top and bottom strips.
Sew 5 blocks and 4 rectangles together to make a row. Make 5 rows.
Sew the rows and horizontal sashes together.
Matching centers and ends, add the border #1 side strips followed by the border #1 top and bottom strips.
Sew 17 units together for each border #2 side strip and sew 19 units together for each border #2 top and bottom strip.
Add border #2 in the same way as border #1.
