Bust your stash!
Instructions to make the Dakota Farmer blocks can be found in Bonnie Hunter’s Addicted to Scraps column in the Nov/Dec ’13 issue of Quiltmaker.
For a 48″ x 48″ crib quilt (as shown), you will need 49 Dakota Farmer blocks and 60 triangle-squares for the border. To make a triangle-square, cut a blue 3-7/8″ square and a light 3-7/8″ square. Use the triangle-square technique to make 2 triangle-squares. Repeat to make 60 triangle-squares.
Sew 7 blocks together to make a row. Make 7 rows. Sew the rows together.
For each border side strip sew 14 triangle-squares together. For each border top and bottom strip sew 16 triangle-squares together. Matching centers and ends sew the border side strips to the quilt. Add the border top and bottom strips in the same way.
