About this Quilt

quilt-fall-at-the-cabin-flat

Two enduring favorite motifs, leaves and log cabins, combine into one large, pretty block that looks especially nice with Melissa Corry’s scrappy color choices. The leaves in the center of the blocks all use the same print for the leaf and background, but the logs that frame the center are placed relatively randomly. The assorted white prints are used in the leaf backgrounds and the 2nd round of logs only.

While the scrappy fabric placement is definitely part of this big bed quilt’s charm, Melissa made another, more controlled smaller version of this design, also shown in the pattern that demonstrates another way to use this easy, fun pattern to make it your own.

Try a favorite collection to get the same coordinated look as Melissa, or you can go through your scraps to make it even more varied, color-wise and print-wise. The big blocks really come together quickly, so you may want to make multiple versions, like Melissa did! Though the leaves make it perfect for fall, the colors you choose can make this a year-round favorite.
