About this Quilt
Finished Size : 64" x 64"
Rating : Confident Beginner
Designed By : Malka Dubrawsky
Here’s a surprise: this Half-square Triangle quilt is made of a single collection of fabric that provides a powerful color study and a graphic statement in its simplicity. At a distance, “Grande” reads as a large-scale interpretation of the traditional HST block. But a closer look reveals the seemingly complex construction to be an illusion. Broken into segments, the quilt is actually a Log Cabin.
Despite the simplicity of this quilt, there is a lot going on to keep the viewer engaged. Malka Dubrawsky designed the quilt to be constructed using basic HSTs and strips of a uniform width. The blocks and strips are arranged to create a diagonal change in colors from cool to warm and radiating change in value from center to edge.
