About this Quilt
Finished Size : 51" × 64"
Finished Blocks : 12¾" square
Designed By : Annmarie Cowley
For this colorful Hot Cross Buns quilt, striped fabric strips are suspended in bold-colored circles to create a variation on the traditional Drunkard’s Path block. Cut from fat quarters, the multi-colored strips add a bit of whimsy to the simple yet striking grid pattern.
Designer Annmarie Cowley also substituted coordinating prints in several places throughout her Hot Cross Buns Quilt to offer a bit of the unexpected. This surprise element gives the finished design even more interest and depth.
Using the templates and illustrated step-by-step directions, you can create this Hot Cross Buns Quilt as shown. Or, use a mix of prints and solids to create a design that showcases your personal style. From modern to more traditional, the look of the finished quilt top is up to you.
The Hot Cross Buns Quilt show here was quilted with “seersucker” quilting, which emphasizes the vertical lines and gives texture to the design. But you can easily change the look by using an alternative quilting style.
