About this Quilt
Finished Size : 63" square
Finished Blocks : 9" square
Designed By : Pamela Cobb
Like a perfect duet, designer Pamela Cobb’s two-block Islands in the Stream Quilt takes advantage of easy piecing to create dramatic movement between the orange islands following along the virtual aqua-colored stream.
Keeping it simple with a mix of techniques from strip piecing to sew-and-flip blocks, Pamela’s asymmetrical layout adds interest without complexity. This makes the quilt easier to sew than it looks and appealing to quilters of all skill levels. The pattern also features illustrated, step-by-step directions that take the guesswork out of making and then arranging both the Island blocks and the Stream blocks.
The Islands in the Stream quilt top was quilted with overlapping wavy lines in the aqua squares to represent flowing water as well as an all-over pattern in the background and Island blocks to give the top a fun and cohesive look. The neutral French-fold binding provides a professional-looking finish that doesn’t compete with the top. The resulting quilt is a delightfully sophisticated design that will make an eye-catching addition to any room.
