Modern Album Star
Nancy Mahoney, a patchwork-making powerhouse, created Modern Album Star as a challenge for “Quilt Re-Mix.” This online show, hosted by Kelly Bowser, takes classic patterns from Fons & Porter and re-mixes them. In this case, as a guest, Nancy Mahoney “re-mixed” Sherill Harris’ Album Star, which was first published in Love of Quilting May/June 2017.
Her version is quick and simple, the kind of project that’s incredibly satisfying to make. With large stitch-and-flip blocks and straightforward sashing with four-patch cornerstones, there’s enough to keep you interested and engaged, while flying through the seams.
Nancy’s choice of fabric—novelty prints in red, black, and white—shows that this is a great place to have some fun. The extra-special bonus is that Nancy whipped up another quilt, Swizzle Sticks, using the scraps from Modern Album Star! It’s a two-fer-one design!
Please Note: a correction to this pattern has been posted to the Fons & Porter errata page.
