Addicted to Scraps - Old Kentucky AlbumBlock
Old Kentucky Album

This design is from the Addicted to Scraps series by Bonnie Hunter.

Instructions to make the Old Kentucky Album blocks can be found in Bonnie Hunter’s Addicted to Scraps column in the Jan/Feb ’10 issue of Quiltmaker.

This block uses 2″ strips to make blocks that are approximately 8 1/2″x 8 1/2″. Notice how the blocks in the quilt below look different depending on the values of the red and blue scraps.

Bonnie set her blocks into this 6 x 7 setting with 2 1/2″ sashes and cornerstones. The inner blue border is 2″. The pieced border is 4″ made from 2 red strips that are each 1″ wide with a 2″ print between. The outer blue border is 2″. The star blocks in the corners are 8″. Note that these dimensions are all the finished size.

Use Bonnie’s plan or come up with your own!
