About this Quilt

quilt-parade-of-stars-flat“I have always loved all things Americana—and the color combination of red, white and blue,” said Nancy Allen. “It brings a feeling of national loyalty, pride and gratitude as my father is a Korean War veteran, I have two nephews who are veterans and one nephew who is an active duty Green Beret. I think this would be a great Quilt of Valor® for any one of them.”

This is a really cool take on the stars and stripes theme; it’s patriotic without being overtly so. It’s got a dynamic composition with lots of movement thanks to the various sizes of Flying Geese darting every which way. The design extending into the pieced borders makes the design even more exciting and original.

Another great thing about this pattern is the mix of techniques that keep construction interesting. The different sizes of Flying Geese are made with both piecing and foundations, though if you prefer to piece all of them we tell you exactly how to do that. The star points are made with a fun trimming method that’s fast and easy, much quicker than piecing them from patches. Get into the spirit and join this wonderful parade!
