Pot of Flowers
Pot of Flowers
12″ Finished Block
Background … cut one square 14″x14″ (Square block to 12 1/2″ x 12 1/2″ after pot and flowers have been appliquéd.)
Step 1. Assemble “Placement Guide” drawing (from PDF document). Trace drawing onto a sheet of tracing paper and use as a “Placement Guide” when placing pieces to be appliquéd on background square.
Step 2. Make bias strips for stems. (Refer to Placement Guide for length of stem.) Fold green fabric 1 3/4″ x length of stem bias strip in half, wrong sides together. Stitch 1/4″ from raw edge. Trim seam allowance to 1/8″. Press tube flat, centering seam allowance on back so raw edge isn’t visible from front. (Using 5/8″ bias bar makes pressing faster and easier.)
Step 3. Fold 14″ background square as shown in Diagram 1. Finger press folds to form guidelines.

Step 4. Using “Placement Guide” and your favorite appliqué technique, appliqué pieces using diagram 1 through 6 as piecing sequence guide.
Template diagrams are available in PDF format. We’ve included PDF files in an effort to make accurately-sized appliqué patterns and template diagrams available to you. You must have the latest version of Adobe Acrobat Reader installed on your computer to read PDF files. Note: When printing patterns printed through Acrobat Reader, make sure the “Print To Fit” option is unchecked in the Print dialog box. Due to the variety of browsers and printers being used by our visitors, design size may not always print accurately. After printing, use a copy machine to reduce or enlarge design to match measurement lines on each page.
