About this Quilt

Designed By : Betsy Vinegrad
The Quarter-square Triangle block – also known as an Hourglass block – is a modern quilting favorite. We’re seeing it everywhere, from miniature quilts, to modern improv masterpieces. This quilt uses the block to its full advantage, in a multiple of sizes. The blue and green fabric shapes almost float on the white background. Designer Betsy Vinegrad left a large area of negative space, lending it to creative background quilting. Betsy says the quilt was inspired by the work of Gary Andrew Clarke, a British abstract painter.
In addition to this lovely quilt, find suggestions for what to do with the leftover blocks. Constructing Hourglass blocks using our two-at-a-time method eliminates the need to work with bias edges and as a bonus, you sometimes will have a few extra blocks to play with, as in this quilt.
