Riva Ridge Quilt

Riva Ridge by Betsy Vinegrad

About this Quilt

Finished Size : 42" x 60"

Rating : Intermediate

Designed By : Betsy Vinegrad

The “Riva Ridge” quilt is a modern version of the traditional Thousand Pyramids quilt design. What makes it different? Why, color, value, and texture… three components modern quilters hold dear to their hearts.

The repetition of equilateral triangles may be a timeless traditional quilting component, but other artists have also been inspired by its simplicity. One piece of art often is the jumping off point for another artist’s work. Case in point: Betsy Vinegrad’s quilt design was inspired by a painting by artist Gary Andrew Clarke, who painted a canvas entitled, “Variation on Max Bill”.  Three artists, three artworks, and three interpretations of the triangle.

Try your hand at varying the size and color scheme of this lovely pattern. Don’t forget to add your name to the list of artist’s inspired to create with a simple geometric shape.
