Sliced Circles Quilt
When we saw this quilt for the first time, our editorial team all said, “Lobsters”! Maybe it is because we are from New England and have a deep love for all things lobster, or maybe it was just the simplicity of the design and technique which, in a few blocks, created a design that definitely resembles an abstract lobster. Most importantly, we all love this quilt.
Each block begins with an inset oval pieced with an innovative technique. The block is then crosscut in strips, rearranged, then sewn back together to form the appearance of a sliced circle. Designer Karen Lee learned the skill in a Portland MQG class taught by Stephanie Ruyle of the Denver Metro MQG.
