Star Shuffle

About this Quilt

quilt-star-shuffle-flatSparkling stars in luminous batiks slide and shuffle around in Karen’s pretty composition. Little stars dance and weave among larger stars, making it tricky to tell where one block ends and another begins! But don’t let the complex look fool you—this one-block design is so easy and fun to sew.

“I love stars,” says Karen Bialik. “I had the idea of a star in a star block and this fabric, with the American theme, worked perfectly! I think this is a very handsome quilt, perfect for veterans. I’m hoping some will be made for veterans of the Vietnam War; I remember the end of this war as a young teen, the vets looked so worn and tired. Lots of veterans could be comforted by this and similar quilts. God bless the vets!

“This quilt is good practice for getting sharp star points. I’d love to make this quilt again, with yellows and oranges in the stars and a deep indigo blue background, like stars in the night sky.”

If you love star blocks as well, you’ll want to make this stylish, shimmering pattern, probably more than once! The block is so versatile and lends itself well to any color
