Everyone gets into the holiday season, even the cute creatures in the forest! Among tall, colorful trees, the critters in the white print go about their Christmas preparations to make the forest look festive for the season. The bright colors and cute animal prints aren’t traditional for a Christmas quilt, but this fun, whimsical design will surely become a holiday favorite.

The foundation pieced tree blocks are mostly scrappy, with a few deliberate color choices that make the quilt even more charming, like the single dark tree. We made sure to be generous with the fabric requirements, both because foundation piecing can require different amounts for each quilter, but also so that there is more freedom for each quilter to plan color placement. There are a lot of ways to make this pattern your own.

This design is a new take on the traditional row quilt, with vertical rows of trees, instead of the commonly seen horizontal rows. The pieced border in this quilt also helps make the design more modern and fresh, as it’s a little different. It frames the composition nicely, and the mix of the cream fabrics gives the design more interest, especially when the cream print is so cute!
