About this Quilt

quilt-turning-leaves-flat

Colors flow and fade like the seasons in this unbe-leaf-able design from Susan Geddes. Gold and green leaves twist and turn as they flutter down, and the rich dark blue sky turns paler and grayer as summer turns to fall. If you love scrap quilts and playing with color, this is the pattern for you!

Since there are so many colors used, our instructions organize the fabrics into assorted leaf batiks, assorted stem batiks and assorted blues for the background. You can study the quilt photos and choose colors similar to Susan, or you can go through your scraps and come up with a brand new palette—either way, your quilt will be just as stunning as the original.

The foundation-pieced blocks are a modern, original take on a favorite motif of quilters. The same block, made in so many different color combinations and placed strategically, give this quilt a high-end look that’s more like fine art than a traditional quilt. You’ll want to dig out some scraps and get started on your version of this before fall is over.
