About this Quilt
Finished Size : 40" square
Finished Blocks : 4" square
Designed By : Debbie Grifka
Star quilts are a timeless design and a perennial favorite with quilters, and the sky’s the limit when it comes to variety. To give this Twinkle Star Quilt pattern a modern aesthetic, designer Debbie Grifka made one big star instead of several smaller ones. She also used a charm pack of 5″ squares to save some cutting time, which is something any busy quilter can appreciate.
The soft-colored fabrics from Sweetwater’s “Hometown” fabric collection for Moda add a beautiful charm. But this quilt would also look lovely in some vivid holiday fabrics or in child-themed prints to hang over a crib in a nursery.
Be sure to use dark and medium prints that contrast with your background fabric so the Star block can shine. Then save the remaining squares for the back of the quilt or another pattern altogether.
You can bind the Twinkle Star Quilt with a coordinating print that matches one of the points in the Star as shown or introduce a new fabric into the mix. Whichever you choose, the pattern includes easy-to-follow directions for creating your own French-fold binding.
