The whales in Block 5 are appliqued facing two different directions. One of those directions is regular applique, and the other direction is reverse applique as all three whales are made from the same template. Jan shows how to use the templates to cut out and mark the whales in both directions at the same time. Jan then demonstrates cutting out and appliqueing the stars which are included in ten of the twelve blocks. Block 1 also has a heart with similar inside and outside points. Learn several tips for turning these sharp corners while hand appliqueing.
