Welcome to Design Wall Tuesday!
It’s hard to believe that June is over and we’re already one third of the way through summer (or what I consider summer to be June, July and August). Some of the editors of Quiltmaker and McCall’s Quilting are away on vacation, but those of us who are here in the office did some weekend sewing. Here’s what we’ve been up to:
From Content Director, Carolyn Beam:
I got a lot of sewing done this weekend. I’m working on a quilt for Quick Quilts Dec/Jan issue and got most of my patches cut and 30 out of 35 blocks sewn together. So far, I like it a lot! I love this fabric collection—Eat, Drink and Be Ugly by Sandy Gervais for Moda Fabrics.
And, since I’m always working on 2 quilts at the same time, I started a new project using charm squares. There are many charm pack quilt patterns, and I love designing new ones. I can’t believe how many blocks I sewed just using these as my Leaders and Enders. I’m using a charm pack from each of Uppercase and Uppercase Vol. 2 by Janine Vangool for Windham Fabrics.
From Associate Editor, Erin Russek:
From Associate Editor, Gigi Khalsa:
Over the weekend I worked on quilting a project for an upcoming issue of Quick Quilts. I chose a quilting motif that takes forever to do though! It’s go lots of starts and stops to tie off and bury, but I think it will look really nice when it’s done. I’m also using this project as an opportunity to try out a bunch of different threads, like variegated, metallic and different color strings that are twisted into a single thread.
From Acquisitions Editor, Lori Baker:
We had a lot going on this weekend and although I had great intentions of making my block for Quiltmaker’s 100 Blocks Volume 16, I kept getting sidetracked. I got a few of the smaller parts cut and sewed two whole seams. I have a ways to go.
That’s it for this week. Be sure to stop by next week to see our progress on existing projects and what new ones we’re working on.
