Hi – welcome back to Design Wall Tuesday. I’m sure you find, like us, that there is more free time to sew some weeks than in others. Sometimes, life gets in the way! It seems like it was that way here in the McCall’s Quilting/Quiltmaker offices. Here’s what a few of us worked on:
From Content Director Carolyn Beam:
The Farmhouse Chic aesthetic is really big, and we’re adding this look into our styled photos for McCall’s Quilting. One thing I’ve noticed that really fits this look is quilted pillow shams. Wanting to explore these further, I played with some designs that we can use in our photography and offer patterns in the magazine for these as well. Here’s a picture of one of the ones I made. Look for this one and more along with patterns in future issues of McCall’s Quilting.
I’m making more progress on my “I Love This Quilt” design I’m working on for McCall’s Quilting May/June issue. I still have a ways to go. You can read all about how I’ve changed this design and how I made it larger on our blog.
From Acquisitions Editor Lori Baker:
Moving day for me was January 6th. We moved from a 2-bedroom condo to a 2-bedrooms-and-an-office house. Guess what we are going to do with the office. It’s my dedicated sewing room.
The practical side of me says I need to get the rest of the house organized before I can even think about working on my new sewing room.
One of the really exciting things about my new sewing room is that I have room for a longarm. I’ve got a Handi Quilter Avante and I am just aching to get started quilting with it. But judging by the big stack of boxes outside the sewing room door, it’s still going to be a few days.
From Associate Editor Anissa Arnold:
I haven’t had much time to sew in the last week but I did make some progress on my Nine-Patch mini – I only have 16 more Nine-Patches to sew and then I can start putting the top together.
I also started working on a Christmas quilt using the Vintage Holiday collection from Moda Fabrics (with a little help from Jasper). This one will be finished and ready for Christmas 2018! The pattern shown here is called Just Peachy and will be in the upcoming July/August 2018 issue of Quiltmaker Magazine. The quilt featured in the magazine will be made with floral fabrics. The Christmas version of this quilt, as seen under Jasper’s feet, will be the color option shown at the end of the pattern.
Stop by next week as we share more of our sewing adventures.
