Welcome to Design Wall Tuesday!

Three of the editors for Quiltmaker and McCall’s Quilting were busy stitching away this weekend. Erin likes to listen to audiobooks while hand stitching her applique. What’s your favorite thing to do while working on a hand project?

Nearly done

I finished quilting this queen-size quilt and trimmed all the edges so it’s ready to bind. I’ve even made the binding. I’m hoping tonight – even though it’s a week night – I’ll finish this one.

I am always looking for ways to combine piecing and applique. This block has the perfect space for some big daisies. I’m in the middle of a really good audiobook so I got a LOT of stitching done this weekend.

It’s my turn for our I Love This Quilt feature! Each issue, an editor chooses an old McCall’s Quilting pattern to remake. I just love the quilt pattern I chose, but my version will be so different from the original quilt—I’m using this block I designed and made several years ago as my muse/color inspiration/focus point. My quilt is going to be pretty unusual and I look forward to sharing it on the blog!
