Design Wall Tuesday: Quilting with Tile

While much of the Northeast U.S. and Europe have been hammered by late winter weather, we here in the Denver area have been enjoying mild, spring-like conditions. Here are a few projects members of The Quilting Company Team have been working on lately. We hope they inspire you, whether you’re still experiencing “quilting weather” or the first hints of spring fever!

From Group Director Tricia Patterson:

EQ8BearPawMy husband started a quilt this past week—with TILE! After creating a design for our entrance doorway using EQ8, the new version of Electric Quilt, we selected travertine for the bear paws and rustic porcelain railway tiles to surround them. (EQ8 is quite fun to use. We share tips and techniques to use this design software in Creative Spark, which appears in every issue of Quiltmaker magazine.)

Quilting with Tile

While hubs was tiling away, I worked on a quilt top for an upcoming issue of McCall’s Quilting using FreeSpirit’s Morris & Co. Merton collection. We’re featuring quilt designs with a variety of Morris & Co. collections in upcoming issues of Love of Quilting and McCall’s Quilting.

From Acquisitions Editor Lori Baker:

We had a busy weekend with lots of family but I did sit down Sunday evening to bind this quilt. It’s for the July/August 2018 issue of McCall’s Quick Quilts and it was due on Monday morning, so I just had to get it done. I was able to finish this bed quilt quickly because out of all the quilt binding options out there, my favorite technique is to do my quilt bindings completely by machine, as you can see in the photo. I started the quilt with my block from Quiltmaker’s 100 Blocks Volume 16, which is available in print or digitally. You can’t see the front of the quilt (yet!) but it’s a really fun one. Stay tuned for more on it after the issue is published!

See you next week!
