If you want an excuse to spend some quality time with your stash, grab one of our free scrap quilt patterns and start pulling fabric for your next project! I highly recommend the Cheddar Is Better quilt designed by Dana Followwell and featured in the September/October 2016 issue of McCall’s Quilting. The cheddar solid fabric has an autumnal feel (though it’s appropriate any time of year), and your scrap fabric selections can be totally random – any stash fabrics will do, and the more the better! Let’s take a look:
Isn’t it a beauty? The Cheddar Star Blocks are easy to make, combining segments cut from scrappy strip sets with basic half-square triangle units. The blocks are set together with straightforward sashing and the quilt center is finished with a plain border. This pattern is rated Confident Beginner, so it’s achievable by any quilter with a mind to try it!
