Mary Kate Karr-Petras, Associate Editor, tells us how an office block challenge inspired her to create her own version:

A few years back, employees here in our Golden, Colorado office were invited to participate in a flying geese exchange just for fun. I did not participate, figuring I was having a hard enough time staying on top of my own works-in-progress at home. But once I saw the quilts that were coming out of that exchange, I began to wish I had joined in.

Geese in My Kitchen by Kathryn Patterson was the first quilt completed by a participant and was published in our January/February 2015 issue. I’ve never forgotten being absolutely smitten when I saw how Kathryn had used all those scrappy flying geese to such wonderful effect, and I can’t wait to make my own version.

Now, which of my boxes of scraps should I dig into first…?
