Friday Free Quilt Patterns: Scrapalicious Queen Size | McCall’s Quilting Blog
Merry Christmas, quilters! This week’s Friday Free Quilt Pattern comes with a special surprise photo (keep reading), and our best wishes for the very happiest of holidays. We know you love free scrap quilt patterns, and this one is a beaut!
Scrapalicious, designed by Lisa Bee-Wilson, was originally made as a fresh, springtime lap quilt:
We liked the easy-to-piece design so much, we decided to write an additional pattern for a queen size option. In Lisa’s design, Four-Patch Blocks combine with pieced sashing strips to create a beautiful, interesting grid effect. And the pattern is very adaptable to alternate fabrications. Imagine Americana colors, 1930s repros, Asian-themed prints…there are any number of ways to spin this one! And when you’re finished, you’ll have a dynamic quilt like this one:
Whether you use the free quilt pattern to make a queen size quilt (not shown), or downsize to suit your own tastes, we know you’ll enjoy making a Scrapalicious quilt to call your own.
Now, how about that surprise photo?
That’s avid quilter Kathy Crouse with the big man himself, showing off her Scrapalicious quilt made with her collection of Santa fabrics. The jolly old elf approved!
