Summertime is in the air! It’s a great time to get energized in our quilting with new and easy designs found in spring quilts and summer quilts. Even with easy quilt patterns, knowing about certain techniques is a must. Half-square triangles have been known to contribute to some easy quilting projects and who doesn’t love quilting made easy? Making half-square triangles, also known as triangle-squares, is a technique that every quilter needs to know about and will most likely use on a regular basis. We’re sharing our technique of cutting 8-at-a-time triangle-squares with you to make this process even easier! Before we get to that, however, let’s take a look at some quilts that feature triangle-squares. Contemporary Quilt Patterns Bali Chic, featured in Easy Quilts Summer 2016, is a contemporary quilt pattern that makes a gorgeous throw-size quilt. Guess what this quilt top, apart from the border, is made from? You’ve guessed it – it’s made entirely of triangle-squares! Once you have your pieces ready to go, they’re joined into rows, an you don’t have to worry about assembling quilt blocks. Pretty simple!

Holiday Stars, featured in Easy Quilts Summer 2016, is made of Star quilt blocks and Pinwheel quilt blocks which combine to make this full, bed-size quilt. You can find triangle-squares in the Pinwheel quilt blocks, a very important part of this quilt! And, this quilt is classified as easy, so it’s a great quilt to prepare for 4th of July (red, white and blue?) or Christmas. A neutral color palette will have this quilt looking lovely in your house all year long.
