My First Quilt | Sara Gallegos | Runtime (8 min)
The Hearth and Home quilt block involves squares, half square-triangles, and a rectangle, all pieces which we’ve shown making in previous episodes. Learn how to use those skills to make this new block. Sara liked the block enough to make it into both a placemat and a pillow, but for the pillow she needed the block to be bigger than the pattern called for. She introduces the concept of quilters’ math (which will be covered more in depth in future episodes) and talks about how she enlarged the Hearth and Home block to make her throw pillow.
