My First Quilt | Sara Gallegos | Runtime (15 min)
Gradated fabrics are beautiful, but oftentimes overlooked because they take special considerations when using them in a quilt. Sara takes the mystery out of working with gradated fabrics and explains what you need to know to get enough of the part of the gradation you’d like to use for a section of a quilt. She then demonstrates how to build the quarter log cabin block that’s in Raspberry Dessert and talks about how to ensure a quarter inch seam allowance while sewing the block. Sara also shows the courthouse steps block from the quilt and lays them out on her full quilt to demonstrate the layout, all while using one beautiful gradated fabric and one solid fabric to make her entire two-fabric quilt. Also see how the edge units look before being added to the quilt and learn how to trim them flush once they’re added.
