I am so excited about the 3100 series of “Fons & Porter’s Love of Quilting” TV show, which was just released on DVD. This was my third series as host and I’m really starting to feel comfortable on set. In the beginning, I felt so intimidated by the shoes I was filling and star struck by a few of the guests! Now, it’s starting to feel more like “my” role and, having had the opportunity to work with Marianne Fons last season, I’m feeling slightly less intimidated.
One of the highlights of this series, for me, was having Liz Porter on as a guest! It was my first time meeting her and we got to film a few segments together. I loved her quilts, especially the stories behind them, and she was a stitch!
Another high point for me was having a quilt of my own to share on screen with all of you! My good quilting buddy Denise Schober came on as my guest and we presented a special quilt we have taught together at my quilt shop, Decorative Stitch in Shelby Township, Michigan. What fun to share my work with a great friend.
Angela Huffman joined me again as guest co-host for several episodes–what a treat it is to work with Angela. She is so incredibly talented both behind the quilting machine and in front of the camera, not to mention funny and easy-going. We have a great time kidding with one another and we shared some really clever piecing and quilting techniques in our episodes together.
I feel so fortunate for the opportunity to host “Love of Quilting” — some of the people I’ve worked with have become great sewing friends of mine and all have inspired me. Thank you so much to our fans for watching and being so supportive as I’ve transitioned into the host spot and so welcoming of Angela, as well, as guest co-host!
