The dog days of summer are upon us and what better way to spend those warm days than by soaking up some sun, sipping cool, refreshing drinks and making sewn Christmas gifts? That’s what we thought! There are only 162 days until Christmas after all!
In all actuality, here at F&W we are putting the finishing touches on our December holiday issues of the quilting magazines you love. We are knee deep in gorgeous holiday quilts and projects that have us dreaming of snow. Or perhaps it is the sweltering heat that is blanketing the country that has us dreaming of cooler temps rather than the quilts! (See what I did there?)
With a mere five months to go until the holiday hubbub, why don’t we get a jump-start on stitching up some gifts? Here are a few projects that I found recently that are guaranteed to inspire!
The Original Ugly Christmas Sweater Pattern by Kidgiddy
Grab your novelty fabrics and start stitching up these adorable ugly Christmas sweaters. I am thinking of stockings and quilts for these beauties! Customize them for every member of your family. Available in both applique and paper pieced patterns. $6.00
Christmas Stockings by Sewn Into the Fabric
Want to get a head start on making those Christmas stockings now rather than on Christmas Eve? Sewn Into the Fabric has lots of adorable patterns in every style! $5
While you are on the Sewn Into the Fabric website, also check out her adorable pincushions. They are perfect to stitch up for your quilting guild buddies. $7.50
How about using those adorable pre-cuts you’ve collected to make some quick-to-stitch placemats for gifts? The best part is that many designs can be made to match your décor, or you can use holiday fabrics to make them seasonal. $6.99
If you are feeling quite industrious, now is the perfect time to start a quilt! Here are two great suggestions from our website.
First up, Christmas Cactus is a lovely design that can be displayed year round. $7.99
The Christmas Grinch is a twin sized quilt pattern that is perfect for your favorite novelty holiday fabric. While it is oh-so-sweet made up in the Grinch fabric shown, it would also be great in Hanukkah fabric, a snowflake print, or even school colors (oooh Harry Potter house colors too!). $6.95
