3406: Refracted Fire

Light up your quilting with this stunning quilt! Built from gradated strips, this quilt design transitions from a riot of color to calm serenity. You’ll learn strategies dealing with strip-pieced sections, and how simple tools and scrappy solids are all you need to create fiery, gorgeous quilt!

Angela’s quilt is based on a design by Tanya Finken called Trifecta, which we originally published in Love of Quilting September/October 2010. Angela’s version appears in the 3400 series pattern eBooklet and Love of Quilting September/October 2019 (available August 2019).

The original design by Tanya Finken (left) was scrappier than Angela’s all-solid variation (right).

In her version, Angela chose to use solids from the Painter’s Palette collection from Paintbrush Studio Fabrics. The fiery colors are dramatic, and the fact that those solids have no wrong side helps simplify the construction!
