The Joy of Summer Sewing

Cover of the June/July 2019 issue of McCall's Quick QuiltsApril showers brought May flowers and now here comes summer! I love this time of year because it stays light so late into the evening that I feel like I can squeeze twice as many things into my day. I try to do as many outdoor activities as I can but I also love to sew in the evenings with my sewing room windows wide open, as I watch my dogs playing in the backyard.

In this issue of Quick Quilts, there is a fantastic selection of projects for all kinds of summertime fun. From decorating your patio table to a picnic in the park or a day at the beach, there is a quick and easy pattern for every summer occasion.

Parade of Stars is a patriotic table linen set while Sophie’s Stars and Popsicles are both mini quilts that can be used as table toppers or sweet little wall hangings, and also make great projects for a beginner quilter. Mirror, Mirror and Meadowland are throw-sized quilts that are fast to make and are great for an afternoon picnic. Meadowland is made with terry cloth as backing fabric, making it perfect for an excursion to the pool or beach. In addition to these smaller projects, there are several patterns for brightly colored full-sized quilts that can be whipped up in a little bit time to add a splash of color. Bring a bit of summer into your home.

Happy Sewing!
