Our best-selling online course is back and better than ever! APQS Longarm Certification Sponsored by Quilting Daily has been revised and updated. Not only will you learn how to make beautiful quilts, you’ll also gain skills to turn your passion into a paycheck with tips on how to run your own quilting business.

One of the most satisfying things about being a quilter is sharing the love we have for our craft with the next generation. At the Quilting Company, the editorial team works hard to pass on the passion for sewing to our children and grandchildren.

We’ve made pillows together, demonstrated hand stitching (numerous times) to kiddos with limited attention spans, and even provided piles of scraps for them to cut and stitch.

Kids can sew!

But what’s the best way to teach kids to be creative, yet also guide them to make something they will treasure forever? To help them master the quarter-inch seam, yet still make something artistic and fun? How do we foster our children’s creativity while also helping them grow as artists? That’s a topic we explore on episode 6 of The Quilting Company Podcast.

From an early age, these kids have said, “I want to learn to quilt,” and their moms encouraged that can-do spirit with kid-friendly sewing classes, access to their studios, and even buying them their own starter sewing machines. Let’s face it: if you’re fortunate enough to work in the quilting industry, it is important to pass on the knowledge!

Sewing runs in our families, and when our children get tired of stitching, we’ve even gotten our pets involved!
