Quiltmaker’s 100 Blocks Blog Tour Road Rally: Volume 16, Day 4

Join us again tomorrow.
Enter to WIN one of the daily prize giveaways.
Join the SOUVENIR HUNT to enter to win 1 of 3 Grand Prize Giveaways.

Today we are going to continue the tour of a sampling of the designer blocks from Volume 16 of Quiltmaker’s 100 Blocks. We have blocks from 8 contributing designers. We’re having fun finding the blocks in our guidebook (our copy of the issue) as we continue the tour. If today is the first day you’ve joined our tour don’t miss visiting the blocks from Day 1, Day 2 and Day 3 to see what you have missed.

Are you ready? We’re on the road again for day 4!

Please, don’t drive by the block stops! With each of the blocks we’re giving you a link to the designers’ blog posts so you can learn more about the inspiration behind their block design, examples of quilt designs using the blocks and a lot more. Some designers will give you a chance to win prizes from their blog site; some are giving you an answer to one of the daily questions so you can enter the drawing for one of the grand prize giveaways at the end of the week.

100-blocks-day-1-vol-16-cover-200pxNeed a guide book to give you details about the blocks?
Travel with your copy of Volume 16 of Quiltmaker’s 100 Blocks. It’s available on newsstands now, or you can download a copy from The Quilting Company by clicking here. Or order a print version here.

Before we join the rally, let me remind to collect treasures to participate in the Rally Souvenir Hunt. If you’ve been participating every day, you can skip over this part. ☺ We’re also giving away 3 grand prizes at the end of the rally. Join the adventure each day for a chance at a grand prize. See details below.

ARE YOU READY?
Let’s get on the road for our 4th day of travel. There’s so much to see!
Here are the souvenirs you should look for today.

Heart Chain is a traditionally pieced heart with four smaller hearts inside it. Cynthia used Quilter’s Linen from Robert Kaufman Fabrics to make her block. The hearts are made with Stitch & Flip units so they are easy-peasy.

Do you see the butterfly in Butterfly Wings? Kate used several fabrics to make her fun block; Hopscotch by Jamie Fingal and Dots (both from RJR Fabrics), Stitch from Timeless Treasures and Harmony from Quilting Treasures.

Isn’t Eight Ball a wonderful block? Melissa made her version with Bella Solids from Moda Fabrics. This block could be the perfect beginning for one of those hard-to-come-up-with-the-idea gifts for guys.

Designed by: Abigail Dolinger

Beacons in the Fog – what an awesome block. Abigail pieced hers from prints and batiks from Wilmington Prints. Or you could start with a couple of basics and use lots of scraps.

Designed by: Yvonne Fuchs, Quilting Jetgirl

Clasp is a graphic block that will make a striking quilt. Yvonne used Kona Cotton Solids from Robert Kaufman to make her blue and gray version. Can you imagine it in other colors?

100-blocks-day-1-block-garduniaBlock #1567
Designed by: Leila Gardunia
sewnbyleila.blogspot.com

A dark fabric, a medium fabric and a light background fabric; that’s all you need for this easy-to-make block. Leila stitched Rocky Road with fabric from Cotton + Steel Fabrics.

100-blocks-day-1-block-nolanBlock #1581
Designed by: Melva Nolan

Melva adapted the classic log cabin block to make Pumpkin Log. Can it be a decoration for your fall sweatshirt, or perhaps a tote bag or placemats or a table runner? Let your imagination run wild.

Starshine is a perfect place to fussy cut a special fabric like Anne did with the butterfly print for the center square of her block.
