There are many ways to quilt a quilt. Traditional-style quilts often lend themselves to traditional quilting methods, and modern quilts can have equally modern quilting. Guest Lynn Bell discusses with Kelly the ways that Kelly and Emily Smith quilted their variations of Saluting You by Candy Hargrove, available in Scrap Quilts Fall 2016. Lynn has preprogrammed the Tin Lizzie 18 longarm machine to automatically stitch out an edge to edge modern quilting design in a similar method to how Kelly’s variation was quilted. Lynn then shows how to free-motion stitch a swirly design with stars, hearts, and flowers that could also be used on a contemporary or modern quilt.
