Nancy Mahoney has really done it again with her stellar design sense. Using her preferred design software of Electric Quilt 8, Nancy was able to manipulate her ideas to bring you this beautiful quilt.

This lovely medallion quilt features a large pieced block surrounded by a sampler of small pieced blocks set on point. The quilt finishes with a two spectacular pieced borders. Each month you will receive a packet of fabric and a pattern for that month’s part of the quilt.

Modern color scheme

In a simple color scheme of only a few hues, this quilt design pays great homage to the medallion quilts that have come before it while staying modern and fresh. The white background is clean, and the borders really server to emphasize the gorgeous center medallion. Because this quilt only employs a few colors, when you have completed the block of the month program with it (where all the fabric is provided) it would be a great one to stitch up in a second colorway!

Try a group quilt approach

Wouldn’t this be a fun project to do with a group of friends? Spread out the blocks between several quilters and this quilt will come together in no time. Do you love piecing borders? Are center blocks your thing? Assign each group member a ‘task’ (and a month!) and you will end up with several quilts to share or donate! What a fun way to get together with friends and sew at the same time. Check out this great blog for tips on working on a group quilt.
