148 | Simple Alternatives to Curved Piecing

My First Quilt | Sara Gallegos | Runtime (8 min)

While you can piece curved patches together, an easier way to achieve that look is to applique the curved pieces onto your quilt’s background fabric. Sara demonstrates how to use gridded template plastic, Steam-a-Seam 2, and a pair of Havel’s scissors to create the curved shapes from pattern templates. She then shows how to build the block together with the background fabrics and both curved applique layers. Also see a pillow sham she made with several of the blocks!
