This month's show is all about collecting antique quilts and salvaging the old fabric. Collecting in general is a hobby that seems to go hand-in-hand with quilting. Jodie and Mark are at the Henry Mercer Museum in Doylestown, Pennsylvania. A major proponent of the Arts and Crafts Movement in America, Mercer founded the Moravian Pottery and Tile Works which is now a national historic landmark. He began collecting early American objects made obsolete by the industrial revolution, building a six-story castle, finished in 1915, to house his collection.
In her "What's Up?" Jodie takes us on a tour of the sewing room in her new home as she's getting everything organized. Judy Grow joins Jodie and Mark in the President's Room at the Mercer Museum.
A representative of the American Quilt Study Group, Judy covers what to do with old quilts; should they be repaired, how to decide, should an old quilt top be finished.
