Description
This hot pocket is a cross between
a hot pad and an oven
mitt and twice as cute. It uses
Insul-Bright to keep the heat
away, and cotton batting for
extra comfort.
Required Materials:
FABRIC
- Eighteen 2 ½” squares of cotton print fabric for patchwork on hot pocket front (shown: various cotton prints of florals and polka dots in greens, yellow, blues, and browns)
- 10 ½” x 6 ½” piece of cotton print fabric for backing (shown: light blue floral print)
- 6″ x 6″ square of cotton print fabric to be embroidered for front of pocket (shown: ecru check) or another motif
- can be selected for fussy cutting and embroidering for front of pocket
- 6″ x 6″ square of cotton print fabric for inside of pocket (shown: light blue floral print)
- 3″ x 44″ bias strip of cotton print fabric for bias binding (shown: red print); see Create Binding in Sewing Basics
OTHER SUPPLIES
- Two 6″ squares of cotton batting
- Two 10 ½” x 6 ½” pieces of cotton batting
- One 10 ½” x 6 ½” piece of Mylar/poly batting, such as Insul-Bright®
- Coordinating thread (shown: white)
- Embroidery floss (shown: red)
- Embroidery needle
- Walking foot for sewing machine
- Hot Pocket templates
