This historical block has seen quite the history, emerging in the early 1800's in popularity, the pattern itself symbolizes the heart of the home. Variations of settings have emerged over the years amounting to hundreds of different names and patterns. Let Kate take you on a new journey of exploration!

In the first lesson, Kate will show you how to tweak the traditional block and make a few fairly traditional variations. She covers how to make a Courthouse Steps variation, where you will add squares to make a chain through the block and the technique called the Quarter (or Half) Log Cabin. We will also cover how to change up colors as well as making your block larger or smaller

Next, we will push your blacks even further by changing up the center. This includes how to create pieced blocks as well as appliqué versions. This should get your creative juices flowing so you can come up with your own ideas, you'll be ready to experiment!

In the last lesson, she will show you how to paper piece a traditional Log Cabin block. This skill will help if you want to delve into more complicated blocks like the paper pieced Pineapple Log Cabin designs as well as many differnet types of blocks outside of Log Cabins.
