Are you a risk taker?

Description

Anything worthwhile involves risk.  All of the contributing artists in this issue have taken risks, whether career-wise or through self-expression, or both. This is true, for example, of Jane Kenyon, who gave up her career as a medical doctor to become a professional art quilter.  Or Mickey Lawler, a high school teacher turned quilt store owner, who became so enamored of fabric painting that she now paints full-time.  It was through risk and experimentation that Barbara McKie discovered her unique form of quilting, and Gail harker, who founded the first and only City * Guilds program in the United States, continues to encourage students to push themselves creatively.  There are techniques presenting in this issue that perhaps you never though of trying: fabric painting, foiling, hand stitching, free-motion embroidery, or crazy quilting.  Whether it is the artistry or the techniques presented, there are fervor and inspiration here, and it is contagious.
