Valentine Gifts for Quilters and Non-Quilters – Quilting Daily

It’s hard to believe that Valentine’s Day is just around the corner–only one month away! I don’t know about you, but it feels like I just finished putting my Christmas decorations back into storage and am finally recovering from the anxiety of finishing my handmade gifts.

One of my New Year’s resolutions this year was to stop procrastinating–that’s always easier said than done isn’t it? In an effort to get ahead of the game, I’ve decided to share a few of the free quilting patterns from Quilting Daily that will make great Valentines and gifts.

Sweet Heart Tags

She takes tags (new or reused from garments) paints them and then attaches silk scraps embellished with beads to create these heartfelt tags. Don’t have silk in your stash? No problem! Try using the scraps you’ve got to make your own version of Beryl’s tags.

Changeable Heart Sampler

Show off your thread painting skills with the Changeable Heart Sampler from Terry White. Use the techniques found in this project originally from Quilting Arts TV Series 400, to create a thread painted Valentine, wall hanging, or box. Whether you quilt it, embellish it, or add it to a piece of clothing, your Valentine is sure to fall in love with your creation!

Joyful Heart

Make a Valentine or small art quilt inspired by Laura Wasilowski’s “Joyful Heart” series. Transform plain fabric or a plain quilt top into into a party of color, texture, and pattern using hand stitching. Just fuse a simple heart onto a plain background fabric, add free-motion machine stitching, then hand embroidery, and voila–you have a gorgeous card perfect for your Valentine! Plus, explore 3 more ways to add fine sewing techniques to your repertoire in this free eBook.

I can’t wait to get started! How about you?
