Traditional quilts versus art quilts. It seems like such an either/or. But somewhere in between lies the world of artistic traditional quilts, and in that world you’ll find Misty Pines, our newest Quilt Along project. Straightforward piecing and fabulous Northcott Fabrics combine to create an atmospheric lap size quilt you’ll love to make and to display. Ready to see it?
The textural fabric prints and careful value (light/dark) placement create a wonderful forest scene our readers have loved since the Misty Pines pattern, designed by Patti Carey, was first published in the January/February 2013 issue of McCall’s Quilting. That original set of kits sold out so quickly, we knew we wanted to offer this quilt again someday if we could ever find similar fabrics. And now they are here! Northcott Fabrics designers Deborah Edwards and Linda Ludovico have come up with beautiful wood grain, pebble, and rock fabrics in a gorgeous natural color palette that really brings this mountain scene to life. Of course, you can also follow this Quilt Along using your own fabric choices. Either way, our free videos break this project down so it is simple enough even for beginning quilters.
All 12 of the video lessons in this series will be available to watch free for a limited time at QNNtv.com. We’ll be highlighting them one per week on our Facebook page (#mistypinesquiltalong), and you can watch at your own convenience. The complete pattern will soon be available for purchase in our online shop, and you can also purchase a bundle including the pattern and all 12 videos so you can add them to your personal library. Of course, if you purchase a quilt kit, the complete pattern is included. For your convenience, backing fabric is also available.
Ready to sew? Get your pattern ready and mark your calendar to watch Lesson 1 beginning Friday, June 26.
